Credibility
- Spock revised the book Baby and Child Care (1968) - 50% drop rate in sales
- (1978) Revised the book once again after feminists objected to father-mother stereotypes
- Deleted "sexist" material and encouraged fathers on bigger parental responsibilities
- Spock kept up with contemporary times (as seen from revisions)
- He contributed to social issues like daycare centers, single parents, and mothers in the workforce
Furthering the discipline of psychology
- Spock's theories and ideas brought upon society a revolution in parenting
- Psychologists before him never emphasized on the importance of proper parenting
- His ideas opened many new doors for psychologists to research on the relationship between parent and child
- His novel Baby and Child Care came with great success, becoming a great influence on parents and psychologists
